Grant Patten completed the first year of the University of Toronto's BA in English Literature before transferring to Ryerson University's Film Studies program. He holds a BFA from Ryerson's School of Image Arts and an ALA-accredited master's degree in Information Science from U of T's iSchool. (specialization: Critical Information Studies)
Patten developed his creative sensibilities and project management skills at Ryerson, where he wrote and directed many short films and videos. He developed his research and writing skills at U of T, where he wrote many analytical papers on various topics relating to the information society. He also worked on many web-based projects in his time at U of T.
Patten was born and raised in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
