Grant Patten, information professional & user experience specialist, holds a BFA in Film/Video Studies from Ryerson University's School of Image Arts and an ALA-accredited master's degree in Information Science from the University of Toronto's iSchool (specialization: Critical Information Studies; now Critical Information Policy Studies). At U of T, Patten completed courses on user experience design, information architecture, requirements gathering and ethnographic research, among other subjects.
Patten developed his visual communication and project management skills at Ryerson, where he wrote and directed many short films and videos. He honed his research and writing skills at U of T, where he wrote many analytical papers on various information policy issues, including online governance and intellectual property. He also worked on various web-based projects in his time at U of T.
Patten is an Akendi Certified User Experience Designer CXD™ (CXD-901-15-075).
Patten was born and raised in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
